Jordan 🇯🇴: Time to get back into the saddle

It has been a busy 2022 tough I took a rather lengthy break from blogging. Traveling didn’t take center stage, but there was a fair bit still: a trip to the Cotswolds (England) and Brecon Beacons (Wales) after new years, the GR20 in Corsica in January, a hike along the seven sisters cliffs with Alex, a bike trip around Northern Ireland, a few weeks back home in Germany and a hike on the Essex Way late summer.

Now it’s finally time for another adventure that will take me to Jordan and the West Bank in Occupied Palestinian Territories. Lots of cycling lies ahead, as I plan on cycling the Jordan bike Trail North to South as well as a bike adapted version of the Palestinian Heritage Trail. Thousands of years of history will be scattered along the way as well as modern day politics especially in the West Bank. And most certainly plenty of hummus 🤤.

On this trip I will be accompanied by a new ride, a Surly Troll. My old Specialized AWOL had a crack in the frame that simply couldn’t be sufficiently mended for heavy load touring. So from here on it’s wider (3inch) & tubeless tyres, hydraulic brakes, internal Rohloff hub gearing and (fingers crossed) dynamo powered recharging. Let’s put it to the test!
